Mrs Beatrice Sebyala stands within her crop of maize at her farm. She is the chairperson and a group leader for the Basokakwavula group, one of the groups being trained by Kulika. Beatrice’s farm is now used to demonstrate good agricultural practices as an example for other farmers.

All of the farmers knew that they were to be photographed by Andy. During the two week assignment at almost every farm visited, the female farmers chose to wear their traditional Gomeshi dress. This would be their best dress, worn to Church and to weddings and celebrations. Despite the difficult circumstances of many of the women photographed across the country the female farmers face the world with pride and dignity.
