Margaret Nakazi is a lone parent with six children. Her husband has recently passed away, and she now supplies all the family food and other needs. The mortality rate for children in Uganda nationally is 122/1000 (Kabale District Report 2002). Margaret is managing to bring up her six children who are well nourished and healthy. Trained with Kulika, here she is pictured here her family who help her to process cassava on the farm in Nakasongola district. Cassava takes a minimum of six months to harvest and it is a staple food for home consumption.
